Creativity Led. Responsibly Governed. Fashion Impact Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by a Board of Trustees. Their oversight ensures that the Foundation remains true to its charitable purposes, uses its resources responsibly and acts with integrity, accountability and care.
Our charitable purpose
Fashion Impact Foundation exists to deliver public benefit through three connected areas:
Arts and culture
Advancing public engagement with fashion, design and related creative disciplines through artistic production, participation and cultural experiences.
Education and skills
Creating opportunities for people to develop confidence, knowledge and practical skills through fashion, photography, volunteering and live creative production.
Children and families
Providing support to children, young people and families experiencing hardship, disadvantage or other forms of need.
All activities and funding decisions are considered against these charitable purposes.
Our legal structure
Fashion Impact Foundation is established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
A CIO is a registered charity with its own legal identity. The Foundation is governed by its constitution and is accountable to the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Where appropriate, the Foundation may undertake commercial and event-related activities through separately incorporated trading subsidiaries. This helps protect the charity’s assets, maintain clear financial accountability and distinguish charitable activity from commercial trading.
Any subsidiary arrangements are overseen by the trustees, and funds received by the Foundation are applied solely in furtherance of its charitable purposes. Further information will be provided in the Foundation’s annual report and accounts.
Meet our trustees
Lisa Darwin – Founder and Chair of Trustees
Lisa provides the Foundation’s creative vision and leads the development of its charitable programmes and partnerships. As Chair, she also works with her fellow trustees to ensure that the Foundation remains focused on its purposes, beneficiaries and public benefit.
Julie Collier – Trustee
Julie contributes to the collective oversight of the Foundation, helping ensure that its decisions, activities and use of charitable resources remain responsible, appropriate and consistent with its purposes.
Janice Watson – Trustee
Janice supports the Foundation’s governance and accountability, contributing independent judgement to its decisions and helping maintain an appropriate focus on compliance, risk and responsible delivery.
The role of the trustees
The trustees are collectively responsible for:
- setting the Foundation’s strategic direction;
- ensuring activities remain within its charitable objects;
- protecting the Foundation’s assets and reputation;
- reviewing budgets, grants and significant commitments;
- overseeing safeguarding and risk;
- managing conflicts of interest;
- monitoring charitable outcomes;
- ensuring appropriate financial controls; and
- meeting reporting and regulatory obligations.
Trustees must act independently and in the interests of the charity, rather than representing the interests of another organisation, business or individual.
